HESTIA is an open-source data platform that makes food production and environmental impact data freely available. Contributing data increases the volume and representativeness of the dataset.
This section provides step-by-step instructions for uploading datasets to the HESTIA platform and managing your uploads.
We recommend contacting us at community@hestia.earth before uploading public data, so we can discuss the dataset and review process with you in advance. However, this is not required — data can be uploaded directly and will be reviewed by a member of the HESTIA team before indexing.
Data can also be uploaded privately (see Uploading your file). Private uploads allow use of HESTIA's models without requiring review.
To upload data to HESTIA, you first need to create an account. Click "Sign In" in the top navigation bar and follow the registration process. Accounts can be created using Google, ORCID, or LinkedIn credentials.

From your dashboard, click on the Data Upload option in the left-hand navigation menu. This will take you to the file upload interface, where you can choose to add new data or update existing files.
