Coffee, pulp
The fleshy mesocarp of the coffee fruit, mostly composed of water, sugar and mucilage. It is a by-product of the coffee indrustry, often disposed without any treatment; due o its high contents of organic acids, caffein, catechins, and tannins, it is a major cause of water pollution in coffee producing countries. This term can be used to describe the seed of different species, including the arabic coffee (Coffea arabica), the robusta coffee (Coffea robusta) and the liberian coffee (Coffea liberica). To further specify the species, use the [variety](/schema/Product#variety) field.
