Coffee, fruit
The edible red or purple fruit of the coffee tree, commonly known as "coffee cherry". It consists of a thin exocarp (the outer skin), a fleshy mesocarp (the pulp, made of water, sugar and mucilage), and a translucent endocarp known as "parchement", which surrounds the seeds. Each fruit typically contains two seeds. This term can be used to describe the fruit of different species, including the arabic coffee (Coffea arabica), the robusta coffee (Coffea robusta) and the liberian coffee (Coffea liberica).
