Outdoor animal system
A farming system where animals are kept outdoors. The proportion of time spent under this condition can be specified as a percentage. For ruminant rearing cycles, we recommend using one or more pasture-specific terms instead, i.e. [Confined pasture system](/term/confinedPastureSystem), [Open range system](/term/openRangeSystem), and/or [Hilly pasture system](/term/hillyPastureSystem).
