Intensive system (aquaculture)
A farming system defined by the [Aquaculture Production Intensity Scale](https://www.mdpi.com/2073-4441/12/3/765/pdf) as: Systems that always supply the input functions of ‘supplying water‘, ‘stocking‘ and ‘feeding‘, the treatment functions of ‘Controlling DO and CO2’, ‘Controlling organic matter’, ‘Controlling nitrogen compounds’ and ‘Controlling solids’ and the output function of ‘harvesting‘. All other functions are optional. These are the minimum requirements for calling a system intensive. A semi‐intensive system becomes an intensive system when it has all the functions listed in the intensive definitions.
