Coconut, fruit (in husk)
The fully mature fruit of the coconut tree, consisting of a greenish exocarp, a fibrous mesocarp, and a hard lignified endocarp. The endocarp, lined with a thin brown seed coat, is initially filled with a liquid endosperm (called "coconut water"). With time, cellular layers of endosperm deposit along the walls of the endocarp forming the edible endosperm known as "coconut meat", which is fully solid in the mature fruit.
