Blueberry, fruit
The edible fruit of the blueberry plant, characterised by a blue/purple skin and a light green pulp. This term can be used to describe the fruit of different North American species and cultivars in the genus Vaccinium, cyanococcus section (e.g. the Northern Highbush Blueberry, Vaccinum corymbosum, or the Marionberry, Rubus Chehalem × Olallie). To describe the wild "European blueberry" (Vaccinium myrtillus), which has a darker skin, a red/purple pulp and a much higher anthocyanin content, use the "bilberry" term.
